Westbrook Foundation Awarded $123K+ During Spring 2025 Grants Cycle

Twice a year, in the spring and the fall, the Westbrook Foundation provides financial support in the form of grants to nonprofit, non-political organizations whose work promotes and enhances the well-being and safety of the residents of Westbrook.
During the spring 2025 grants cycle, the Foundation awarded $123,392 to ten projects serving Westbrook citizens of all ages.
“It is a privilege to partner with non-profit organizations in Westbrook and elsewhere to deliver much-needed services for the benefit of the Westbrook community,” said Foundation Grants Chair An-Ming Truxes. “The Foundation is proud to be able to provide financial support for such worthwhile projects.”
Spring 2025 grant recipients and their projects include:
- Camp Hazen YMCA: $4,000 tosupport 35% camperships for 3 Westbrook youngsters to attend a two-week session of Overnight Camp and 9 to attend a two-week session of Day Camp each.
- The Estuary: $10,000 to support Meals on Wheels which delivers a daily hot meal to about 80 Westbrook seniors.
- High Hopes Therapeutic Riding: $5,000 to provide financial assistance for Westbrook residents to participate in High Hopes’ equine-assisted activities.
- Incarnation Center, Bushy Hill Nature Center: $7,000 to provide full or partial scholarships (including tuition, transportation, lunch, and before/after-care) for 12 Westbrook campers, ages 4-15, to attend one of the two day-camps.
- St. Paul’s Episcopal Church: $29,025 to support restoration of the church including Signage Display: to mount the new church sign prominently in the church’s front lawn; Building Preservation: complete cleaning of exterior and interior surfaces, and carpenter ant infestation inspection, repair and abatement; Landscape Reclamation: removal of over and under growth along the church property’s rear perimeter.
- Town of Westbrook, Public Works, Department of: $14,050 to support the construction of a 34′ x 64′ post tension concrete Pickle Ball court at the Fiske/Magna Lane courts [contingent on receipt of a STEAP (Small Town Economic Assistance Program) grant from the State].
- Town of Westbrook, Visiting Nurses and Public Health: $12,135 to provide 3 days of flu vaccines to Westbrook residents and Westbrook School and Town Hall employees.
- Traveling Toys: $1,863 to enhance the existing teen toy lending library at the Westbrook Public Library (WPL) by purchasing gaming equipment, audio/video creation tools, board games and outdoor games.
- Westbrook Congregational Church: $39,647 to replace 21 old leaky windows in the offices and common areas of the church, including fellowship hall and the space that will host a childcare center.
- Westbrook Garden Club: $672 to support enhancements to the Meadow Walk adjacent to the Tom Odell Memorial Open Space by installing (1) a second library structure with a sign-in book to record visitors’ information, (2) another bench, and (3) identification signage on meadow plants for educational purposes.
