Westbrook Foundation Awarded $164K+ During Spring 2026 Grants Cycle

The Westbrook Foundation awarded $164,815 to community organizations in the spring 2026 grants cycle.

“The Foundation is proud to partner with the Town and community groups this year on several projects that celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence,” said An-Ming Truxes, Foundation Grants Chair. “The Foundation also takes pride in its continued support of local nonprofits that provide a variety of needed services benefiting Westbrook children and adults of all ages.”

The spring 2026 grant recipients and their projects include:

  • Bare Necessities: $3,000 to purchase diapers and wipes for approximately 85 unduplicated babies of ALICE families in Westbrook.
  • Incarnation Center, Bushy Hill Nature Center: $6,000 to provide full or partial scholarships (including tuition, transportation, lunch, and before/after-care) for 10 Westbrook campers, ages 4-15, to attend one of the two-day camps in summer 2026.
  • Camp Hazen YMCA: $4,000 to support 35% camperships for 3 Westbrook youngsters to attend a two-week session of Overnight Camp and 10 to attend a two-week session of Day Camp each.
  • The Estuary: $4,619 to support Meals on Wheels which delivers a daily hot meal to 96+ Westbrook seniors.
  • First Congregational Church of Westbrook: $4,533 to support the 300th anniversary celebration which coincides with the town’s 250th celebration.
  • Town of Westbrook, Emergency Management: $21,000 to replace a manual message sign located in front of the Riggio Building with a digital reader board (electronic sign).
  • Town of Westbrook, Fire Department: $58,398 to fund the upgrade and refurbishment of the Westbrook Fire Department’s existing rescue boat.
  • Town of Westbrook, Public Works: $25,000 to support a fireworks display to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
  • Town of Westbrook, Public Works: $6,730 to purchase and install a bronze plaque honoring Westbrook veterans of the Revolutionary War, the French and Indian War, the War of 1812 and the Spanish American War.
  • Town of Westbrook Tree Lighting Committee: $5,727 to purchase banner brackets for around the green and to replace brackets in other areas, as well as 250th banners and holiday banners for the 250th celebration.
  • Valley Shore Community Television: $4,000 to purchase 2 lenses and 2 viewfinder brackets to complete the year-long project of replacing 3 outdated studio cameras.
  • Valley Shore YMCA Community Garden: $3,880 to purchase gardening equipment, supplies and services for the YMCA Community Garden which grows food for the Shoreline Food Pantry in Westbrook serving 200-300 families.
  • Westbrook Little League: $17,927 to fund field upgrades (scoreboard repair, new home plate, new bases), new pitching machines, new padlocks, and new helmets for both baseball and softball so they meet current safety standards.
